daddy went to some kind of official function--a paleozoic footprint site being "dedicated", now that the department of conservation owns it.  they turned over the earth and discovered... SOME TRILOBITES.*

daddy's extremely excited about this because, you see, trilobites are exclusively marine but the other fossils at the site are exclusively freshwater.  "there was apparently at least one more marine incursion in that part of this section during which fossils were preserved."  "if i have time i might try to write a short paper about it."

in other news, i have to go to class today.  blah.

*these were also the subject of his doctoral thesis.  not ALL trilobites, but, you know, something about them.

OMG. Trilobites ROCK. When I was a kid, I wanted to be a trilobite. Strangely, just moments ago I was thinking that it would be nice to be something with a hard shell, like a beetle or something, but I didn't think about trilobites.

Cockroaches? But... but... trilobites are cute, and cockroaches aren't. Therefore, trilobites are more like space beetles.
