i think if i ever want to see my hair in

again, i'm going to have to start washing it with boiled water or something.  the water's very hard here and it's kind of... limp and barely wavy, even though it's grown out around chin-length, which is when it sort of sprang up in bouncy curls when i was seventeen.

eta: damn, people are recommending putting drinking water filters in their showers. uh, no.

if i had a webcam i would demonstrate, but i honestly can think of NO way to make it that curly now short of buying a curling iron. for one thing they don't seem to sell leave-in or spray-on conditioner in finland. twice if tried to scrunch it with mousse in the last few weeks since it got around chin-length. i mean, nothing; it's kind of sleek and flips in and out at the ends but that's it. it kind of looks like jared leto's here...



...(any excuse for the pretty.) ...but anyway. quite a difference, and very frustrating. the last time it was this long it was kind of even curlier than it is in that picture, because when it got longer the ringlets got heavier and kind of stretched out.
