every one of us was made to suffer

so, the plan today was to eat breakfast, go retrieve the dry (knock on wood) duvet covers and undergarments from the drying room under building 34A, do the dishes, eat lunch, watch some star trek and read some due south and possibly the sentinel slash. 

that's all great, except when i was in the "check email while waiting for the kettle to boil" stage of the plan, tea came and sat on my lap.  she does this several times a day.  but all weekend she was standoffish and now she's morphed back into super-cuddly!tea.  so i decided to let her perch for a bit and started in on my friendslist.    and now she's purring really violently, and every now and then she'll turn around a bit to pat my thigh lovingly, or to gaze up at me while making the Squinty Eyes of Violently Purring Pleasure.  i consulted her about my making-breakfast plan and she told me in no uncertain terms that she wasn't even ready to think about getting up yet. 

but but. i'm hungry, tea!

If only all cats could be draped over the shoulder, and carry on their contented purring in that lofty perch.

i've heard of cats who do this. indeed, i hear it was tea's hobby when she was smaller. but my shoulder's not big enough for her to feel secure, alas.
