i had the opening course of one here with safer by juli, but i keep opening stories with the phrase 'his lover' in them.  know what i hate?  i hate the phrase 'his lover.'  know what should never be in any story?  the phrase 'his lover' shouldn't.  i'll keep trying though.

by the same author, the waltz is about as horrifically schmoopy as i can just barely stand.  she's addicted to That Phrase, though.  'they weren't lovers yet, but...'?  eesh.

why do people feel compelled to tell you in the notes that a story is their first attempt at [whatever].  it can't be that they think we want to know, can it?  that's just impossible.

eerie-ass physics by kispexi may finish it off.

all today's fic breakfasts are firefly, mal/simon flavored.

i can deal with 'his lover' in some situations, but NOT when they just started getting it on for the first time and by paragraph three one or the other becomes "his lover". that's just. uck.

yes. yes yes and yesss.

if it is subtle, and/or has a point, then by all means. but it's one of those phrases one must be careful with. and not enough people are careful.

I've always hated his lover too. It's just... I don't know, lazy, I suppose.
