so many things to slash, so little time.

i want to type up the whole of rosencrantz and guildenstern are dead so i'll have it as reference when i finally get around to slashing tim roth and gary oldman.* i have a promise from [livejournal.com profile] wolfsage that if she ever gets to see the movie she'll write some too and then we'll have a fandom... two stories IS enough for a fandom, isn't it?

*the urge to slash the fictional characters is there too, but i'm suppressing hard.

i've never seen reservoir dogs, but i hear that's a good tim movie. gary, well. you can see him anywhere. basquiat is quite good, though, and he's not a villain, for once. and in the professional, i want to lick him! but the 'TIM ROTH I THINK YOU'RE SEXY TOO!' thing is pretty eloquent. imo.

oh, he's in that movie! that totally didn't register in my brain when i watched it. it's a good movie, actually... if you can stand watching torture. that's one of the only things i have a hard time watching, so that was a bit harsh for me. but other than that it was good....

dude. tim roth was an ape in planet of the apes. O_o

and, omg, gary oldman was mason verger in hannibal. MASON VERGER. *shudder*

haha i love imdb. let the plotbunnies breed.

i've never seen the hannibal series, reservoir dogs, or planet of the apes. they're all on my to-read list though.

i slashed them last night. totally not the during-filming-of-r&garedead that i meant to write though. it bit hard and i just wrote it all at once. well, it took a few hours.

oooh, yes, do read the hannibal series. the books are brilliant. have you ever fallen in love with a serial killer? i have. <3 hannibal lecter.

can't wait to read it! i'll have to read a bit later though, i'm on my way out the door.

oh, i didn't mean to read them, but to watch the movies--the silence of the lambs, hannibal and red dragon. although i suppose it's possible i might read them someday. who are they by?

i want to write a serial killers in love story. does that count?

thomas harris. (you said to-read list so i assumed ^^) the books are way better than the movies, though i actually liked the movies... especially hannibal. red dragon wasn't as good, nearly, but it was nice to see dr. lecter again, even briefly.

yes, that does! that's a really good idea. serial killers as people, i think. i don't know a whole lot about serial killers, and i'm not sure if i want to, really, but i loved the book 'hannibal' because it goes into his past and the way his brain works. and then there's a love story (!!!!) that isn't there in the movie. but it's brilliant and elegant and sexy and dangerous. why they would leave that out of the movie, i have no idea.

ah, yes. um, i was using to-read list... metaphorically. now that i think about it, it's kind of stupid. but, y'know, there's no such term as 'to-watch list.'

yeah. i don't know much about serial killers either, but i find the idea sort of romantic. reminiscent, although twistedly, of benny and joon's crazy-in-love concept. and it could be quite sweet. i was planning to do it with extant characters in some fandom and make them homicidally nuts. obviously, they have to be a bit eccentric in the first place for that to work.

i use 'to-watch list' :)

i don't know benny and joon but i know what you are talking about. that could be really good. what characters are you planning on using? my brain goes straight to lotrps and i would certainly say viggo, first. because he's eccentric enough that you could push him over with a few paragraphs. i'm not sure about the other, but there's potential... depends how you write it. i'm interested in the concept, definetely, so if you want to talk about some of your ideas, feel free.

well, my first thought was sirius and remus. i'm not so sure anymore. viggo works, but i like him with karl, and i don't think karl would go along with it. i think he's a somewhat stabilizing force on viggo. despite the puppy-worship. and plus, my mind doesn't move in lotr rps shapes much anymore. it could work with rosencrantz and guildenstern. the key is that both of them have to be nuts, y'know? like, it wouldn't work with sherlock holmes because watson just trails along after him and doesn't really protest, but he's always going, 'you know, this IS illegal.'

i was never much into the viggo fandom. call me immature but i was all for the hobbits in nearly every combination. wait, was? ^^;

but i see what you mean about stabalizing, and then that would negate the whole going-crazy-killing-people thing. shame, really.

could work with rosencrantz and guildenstern. it would be hell to type up, but! hmm. i guess you could really fuck around with their motivations and put a different perspective on why they were taking hamlet to england... really push them over the edge. rah. sounds fierce!

OH MY GOD. THAT WOULD BE SO COOL!

that wasn't even what i was THINKING of!

they could have the revelation on the boat. and you know how the last they hear at elsinore is--when hamlet gets back after all? damn. okay, they can't really kill hamlet. they could've meant to, and then kill the players instead.

o.0

let's talk some more. see what kind of ideas come up.

then they'd be on the run. and it'd be all snowy. eeee. and THEN they could have sex!

that sounds awesome! ooo epic rosencrantz/guildenstern. *drool*

it would have to be r&gad 'verse ros & guil, for sure. and then there's that part where one of them (can't remember) actually tries to kill the player. he thinks he does. he doesn't, but what if that was a real weapon? he didn't know, he has the capabilities to do it.

and they'd definetely be on the run because once the ship got to england, everyone would know they were murderers. would they be in england, i wonder?

violent madmen sex! :O okay not really. i think they are so much alike that they wouldn't seem mad to eachother, only to outsiders, which means the sex they have shall be quite normal. at least to them. XD

ideas, ideas. serial killers who fall in love, that was the original idea. and that eccentricism that's just on the edge of madness. so you could definetely work with that. taking the whole play from a slightly darker perspective, there's a lot of madness in them, only it's lighthearted. but we can change that!

(no subject)

Date: 27 Feb 2004 01:05 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cimness.livejournal.com
it's only partly light-hearted though. it's dark underneath.

i don't want to make it au--i mean i don't want to change what actually happens in the play. and at the end of the play, you see the scene from the end of hamlet play out. so that means hamlet has to make it there, and they have to not kill the player with that attempt.

but i think you might mis-estimate the times. i mean, think when it was set. it was NOT actually set in shakespearean times, although since the movie canon puts it there, we can do it that way. i mean, they arrive in england, and THEN kill the players, perhaps? there wouldn't be a big manhunt. they didn't have much in the way of police or prison. it wouldn't be so hard to avoid getting caught.

and it's, i think, important that they commit murder more than once.

not necessarily that they're serial killers, with, like, must kill five people whose names start with 'h' this month; just that it's recurring, they're mad, they fall deeeeeeper... but it's perverse and it's not a sad ending, and they're able to stop killing, maybe, when they get free and go away.

EPIC.

::gets shivers::

wanna co-write? like splitting povs?

(i have a couple of shorter projects i have to do first--remix and a jeeves/wooster and a hilary/brice--and my rothman, hee, ::curtsey::--but we could make, like, a... writing-date.)

THAT SOUNDS AWESOME.

epic. <3

i've never done a co-write before but i think that would be totally COOL. splitting POVs like... one of us is ros's pov and the other is guil.? because i think that would rock. i've actually been meaning to try to get into the differences between them. i'm going to re-read the play with that in mind but it's quite difficult. the differences are small but they're there, for sure. i'm awful with that, though, i just read it right through and hardly paid attention to who was saying what.

i think i am misestimating the time. the plot is a little hazy but i'm re-reading hamlet this weekend so i'll probably be more clear then.

okay, i'm so excited now. and i have about 2 minutes to get to my physics class. how am i going to concentrate? i don't know. XD

i'm really excited too. when i got the idea i was all shivery and bouncy! yeah!

i have co-written once before with wax. (i don't know if you read harry potter, or how you feel about sirius/remus, but she wrote sirius and i wrote remus in the epicky novel thing (http://www.rightthisway.net/cimorene/hp/thing.html).) it worked out pretty well, especially because we had the timelines separated... the hardest part was mapping out the storyline in advance so that the two timelines would match up to each other, as it were. we did a lot of our writing and brainstorming in aim--do you have aim? if we're going to cowrite we'll definitely want to chat. :)

if you re-read hamlet, that reinforces the idea that they're interchangeable. but if you pay attention in the play, ros. is much more innocent and kinda dorky. guil. is more intelligent and sort of takes care of ros. for instance, in playing at questions--guil. wins. guil. wants to 'question and answer' to glean hamlet's problem; ros. doesn't get what he's saying. and when the tragedians are basically offering sex for money, it takes ros. forever to realize it, then he's intrigued in spite of himself and guil. has to step in. ARG. so sweet!

yes, i do have aim! i don't usually use it unless i have a reason to so i don't tend to tell people the name, but this would be a reason to use it, for sure. sn is 'why nicola' (or maybe 'whynicola', i'm not sure if it matters). et toi?

hee, i like harry potter. ^_^ i haven't read your story but maybe i will! haven't been in a hp mood lately but i'm sure i will be eventually.

but yeah, if we can work it out ahead of time, it shouldn't be a problem. this is going to be awesome! :D we can work out the main story arc, figure out around how long it would be, and which part each of us would be writing.... when do you want to chat? i can right now if you want, but not for too long... i have dinner at my grandmothers.

rah, thanks for that. i need to get a small grip on which one is which before i can get a firm grip, if you know what i mean. so gary oldman plays rosencrantz? it's funny, cuz i remember him being the smarter one.... but it was a while back so i could have simply blurred the memory.

no, the spaces don't matter--i'm cimcesa. i've been offline writing for a few days. :) we'll catch up to each other sometime. plus, we both have other stories to finish first. so we have plenty of time to chat.

well, in the movie, ros. beats guil. at questions. but guil. is in general the smarter one, i think. however, ros. is preoccupied with the laws of physics (dropping a ball and a feather, swinging the hanging pots) and whatnot while guil. is more focused on what they're doing. but ros. is definitely a bit good-naturedly dim. ::sniff:: their loooove. it's so... poignant.
