to people with whom i instant message and such, my apologies. i've installed aim and msn on the family computer and my family aren't smart enough to either turn them off or say "cim's not here right now," so it may look like i'm screening calls when i'm not.

i've been extraordinarily prickly since waking up from a nap that took half the day. bev and dave's house (i'm beginning to think i should name it, like, 'busta' or 'dudley' or possibly 'ermintrude') rejuvenated me somewhat, with no little help from slate in affectionate mode, penny sniffling my hands but not jumping on me, a bowl of applesauce and another fraser/kowalski by speranza.

also we bought tortilla chips and deodorant.

it was getting pretty desperate around here without them.

no work tomorrow! on the minus side, the town is besmirched with too many american flags. plan to hole up at b&d's and watch monty python's flying circus and cuddle the cat.

hm. what should i name the house, folks?

>>busta
>>dudley
>>ermintrude
>>write-in?

chicago's most wanted--read it NOW. my fucking god, i haven't laughed this hard since last night. with--surprise!--another speranza.

[edit: i just invented a new decibel level of laughter, at one in the morning.]

ow?

it finally happened: bear put on a burst of speed just as penny turned and lunged backwards at the climbing vine on a mailbox pole. my arms were jerked in two directions at once. thank god neither of them was running. i think there is a small muscle pulled between my shoulderblades.

walking back on sweetbriar lane, we came upon (a) several piles of brush; (b) a VERY fascinating of leather tevas that penny took a proprietary interest in, but was forced to abandon where she found them, as i did not wish to write an explanatory letter to mike and pamela miller; and (c) a tremendous amount of fireworks-litter. recall that TODAY is july 4. woodland forrest is a den of iniquity when it comes to illegal fireworks; they were practicing (i presume) all night last night.

i try not to jinx myself by turning back to my first- and second-choice radio stations too quickly when they're playing nothing good (like eminem and 36 mafia, or faith hill and r kelly), because i don't wish to be disappointed. instead i've been turning back, lately, just a BIT too late to catch my current addiction-song (1000 miles--it's a miracle i haven't caved and bought the cd yet, and entirely due to wishing very very hard to save my money). i keep coming back in the middle of the second verse and it's quite frustrating. i don't dare put audiogalaxy on b&d's computer, though, cable modem aside, even if i deleted it later; *sigh*. must wait for tomorrow. suddenly that's an eternity.

[livejournal.com profile] guinevere33, the gateway guy thinks i can fix the modem driver problem with the winxp disc by booting from it (after i get the esc key fixed, *cough*) and performing a repair on the operating system. i tried to tell him that it already didn't work that way, but he knows more than me, etc, etc. i figure i'll give it a try, if that's acceptable. we could have a slumber party at b&d's and watch any number of movies, including every episode of monty python's flying circus.

[edit: oh, 'h' comes AFTER 'g'!]

i finally managed to lure slate upstairs. he's sitting next to me on the edge of the comforter from the guest bed, rubbing his chin alternately on my elbow and the edge of the table. *sigh* a good day, all in all, watson.

and tonight: monty python! *muted cheers*

napped two hours; this is getting to be a bad habit, with me. going out from 6 but only until 8, because, naturally, i have to give the cat a shot, or he'll be heartbroken. i have washed my hair, also, which is always a good thing. it's temporarily straight while the water evaporates and it gets less heavy. also temporarily darker. it will be frizzier, but by god, it will SMELL NICE.

[livejournal.com profile] southpaw526 rocks. greatly. also creatch, whom i don't personally know but who can't be at all bad. i'll be on after 8 central time, dear.

okay, now not only is the powermac silent, it's REALLY STUPID. there's a dvd in it that won't eject. no, seriously. there is a clearly-labeled eject button which, when you push it, does nothing. the help doesn't help: it tells you to look at the manufacturer's instructions. and really, what are they going to say? do a rain dance before you push the fucking eject button? i think it's broken, which is just really fanTASTIC. i mean, i suppose i could watch vcr-movies--but they don't have monty python's flying circus there, and i really wanted to see the spanish inquisition skit.

my dad, incidentally, wants to rent time bandits. his summary wasn't nearly as entertaining as wax's, but i have hers to reassure me that i really would like it. also, there's the fact that my dad and i seem to scarily share some brain cells.

okay, [livejournal.com profile] southpaw526 was saying something about a due south archive, i think, where there should be many good fics. i left the file at home. somebody send me a link, please?

another pop song that i hate? that "why you wanna go and make things so complicated" one. there's this insidious catchy little hook of melody, but with the most inane, asinine lyrics and a voice that makes me shudder and squirm. ugh, ugh, ugh. and i CAN'T get it out of my head. i'm going to kill something.

after i sleep. hm.

*yawn*

[livejournal.com profile] nemoricultrix tried to fix the power mac very kindly, but it still wouldn't fix--the options for it in the menu were gray, like it wasn't even there. only it clearly was. i mean. i can see it. it says 'dvd' right on it. GAH.
