::blinkblink::

well, that was dark. a bit too realistic, there, sebastian, with the workings of government secret agencies. spare us the nitty gritty of gray morality and unmarked packages and let's get on to the gay sex. (no, and i say that totally without irony. i'm shallow, all right? at least, when i go into a story looking for romance...)

>.<

going to go off and cry now! or, you know. sleep. -_- ow hunger. [mr horse] no, sir. i don't like it.

my 11-yr-old sister: you throweded it away!
dad: i did not, i PUT it away--
[livejournal.com profile] cuddlepint: you throweded it away!
dad: 'throweded' isn't a word.
[livejournal.com profile] cuddlepint: ::grinning:: it is if you spell it with a 't' instead of a 'd' in the middle.

ttt!

today. in eowyn dress! WHEE!

also i have tea. and i am unapologetic, i say, about my love for unrelieved schmoopy stories. i don't read slash for gritty realism. because, uh. right. so anyway, i have other sources for gritty realism. yes. nice little rant about that... ::rifles:: now where was it? ah.

slash versus 'real' novels.

i think i had a legolas/gimli dream. the shards of it escape me now. and oh. i got my new driver's licence in the mail. heee. my hair is VERY RED. and i can put on my eowyn dress soon, i suppose. my poor parents' need for a new computer is quite desperate. but they're silly and won't get one.

well, we all know i can write emotion. maybe i shy away from it a little in the serious sf i'm trying to write--maybe more than i should. tralala. well, after all, in sf you want above all to not be dismissed as not-serious. and writing romances is one fast way to do that. ::makes a face at fandom::

i spent viewing #3 mostly trying to knit the screen time together with book canon, to make one cohesive canon in my head--the one my fanfic takes place in, of course. i have a nice legolas/gimli bunny gestating which got some further development in this viewing. last time i was all pissed off by the undercurrents between aragorn and legolas, but i think i'm being too nervous. there's clearly something there, but it doesn't have to mean legolas is in love with aragorn. when i stop looking at it defensively, it works for me.

i'm liking the movie more each time. and i like it better than fotr. not that i don't like fotr, but my tolerance for it is lower. can stand to watch it fewer times and such.

'm not getting tired of this yet--and i think that in all cases except faramir, movie characterization grows out of book characterization, simply elaboration on a level tolkien didn't touch, not actual disagreement.

as for faramir, well, my mental canon is starting to try to make sense of him, but it's tough going. maybe beating up [livejournal.com profile] ferretmir a little will make me feel a bit better.
