thanksgiving dinner
26 Nov 2003 06:01 pmthere will be 15 people for thanksgiving tomorrow.
last night my dad's sister valerie and her husband hugh arrived.
this afternoon, dad's dad and common-law-step-mum (the aunt of carolyn, my mass. common law step first cousin once removed) got here.
tomorrow dad's mother's brother and sister-in-law are due (so great uncle and aunt, and their children, completely adult, are my first cousins once removed). also the other sister, the one who doesn't eat cooked food.
interestingly, my dad's parents were divorced when he was at college. it was involuntary on his mom's side and she was miserable and basically stagnated the rest of her life until she died of breast cancer about ten years later and there was some bad blood between grandpa and great-uncle marty, who was, um, twenty? fifteen? ten? years younger than grandma and has always been very loyal. this will be the first time they have met since the divorce.
god, this apartment is already too small.
i haven't been online today and i greatly felt the loss, although i consoled myself with two episodes of star trek and two of due south, including mounty on the bounty. during the latter my little sister turned to me.
'cim,' she said, 'is there slash of ray and constable fraser?'
me: [opens mouth to speak, searching for words]
lillian: because i just thought that would be cute.
p.s.: grandpa's debby has never heard of wodehouse.
