Gay rights groups said they learned a hard lesson from Missouri's overwhelming passage of a state constitutional amendment against same-sex marriage and would put up a tougher fight in other states where voters may adopt similar amendments this year. But they expect to lose. "Sadly, I do think a lot of these state ballot initiatives will succeed despite our best efforts to stop them," said Cheryl Jacques, president of the Human Rights Campaign, the nation's largest gay rights group, and a former state senator in Massachusetts.

[livejournal.com profile] emilybored has been writing a clive owen/ioan gruffuld/keira knightley rps, serially open-ended, that i really like.  it's all in [livejournal.com profile] knightgasm, and the new pieces come along at shortish intervals.  when it's all finished, i'm going to rec it as a whole, but i thought i'd mention it now to the interested.  because i, at least, am enjoying it really a lot and always looking forward to the next bit.

"Master, I've heard Master Yoda talking about midi-chlorians and I was wondering... what are midi-chlorians?" The line itself is written with the skill of a six year old and being delivered (with no fault to Jake Lloyd) poorly on top of this. Luckily Qui-Gon doesn't go into an agonizing description of the molecular and organic properties of midi-chlorians and how they help a Jedi use the force using the term "symbiont organisms" to illustrate his point. Oh wait, I was thinking of the Three Amigos. That didn't happen in the Three Amigos but it did happen in The Phantom Menace.
