jesus. christ. i can't fucking write. or rather, this story is still writing itself constantly under my skin and i'm too tired to get it out because i'm too tired to remember what tense i'm using. i started the damn thing in past tense, but now that i'm sleepy every sentence comes out in present--i mean every. sentence. i'm spending half the time fixing all the verbs that i've just put down in the wrong tense. but it's not fair! i haven't had time to write today what with the swedish homework, the cleaning, the MONSTROUS PILES of laundry--and the story's been waiting all day, not at all patiently, and if i go to bed i'll have to get up and then go to school and it will be more than twelve hours from now before i get any more written and it's going to be itching at me that whole fucking time!

this scene is. auugh. what am i saying. all the scenes feel like this, special, exciting, breathless, when you're in the middle of writing them. i'm going to cry. if i don't fall asleep first. :prints it in really tiny print and takes it to school with her:

this little kitty is is so soft. and cute. every time i've moved all morning she's protested with this little half-purring gentle "mraeeeh" sound.

it occurred to me in the shower this morning to check for english translations of astrid lindgren's emil stories which i'm enjoying so much. they're all out of print but i found some used ones that were okay. i've sent one to perrin for his early march birthday.

this afternoon (after i get back from the post office where if i don't go i will stab myself with a pencil) i have to pick out some more children's books for presents. which is a vastly pleasant task. don't you love children's books?

just the day for walking all over doing fucking errands...
