okay, i'm not really going to put this in my recs page, but--i did just find it entertaining and a lot of fun.

it's this rpf story where callum keith rennie and paul gross accidentally get sucked into the universe(...s?) of due south fanfiction and rpf and are trying to get back out, using paul's Magical Notebook and Pen to move from story to story, genre to genre (het, slash, smarm, gen, etc): the voyage home, by blue champagne.

it meanders as opposed to having a real plot, but it is funny (though not as funny as "talking to the dog", which is also by blue champagne). so yeah. real people who encounter fictional characters. no RPS (unless you count the allusion to the rps stories paul and callum are trying to escape from) (definitely no rps. absolutely. and in conclusion, no rps. because rps is Wrong*).

probably part of the reason i get such a kick out of it is how i dig meta and self-aware characters and stuff. but it's also got a fun platonic buddies-banter-adventure thing going on.

*the explanatory anti-RPF essay in the notes at the end is either the best or the worst part--it's tough to decide.
