i've kept myself going through the past three days of no chat and no recreational reading with prince of tennis-related crack thoughts, because
penm and i accidentally came up with what might be one of the best aus ever a few days ago. i've been promising myself, as i wrote the essay of doom, that when i finished it i could write some fiction. but then i only got 1,5 hours of sleep and there's just no way i can focus to do that. i'm just killing time until i can go hand the essay in in person (who the fuck actually requires that?) and come home and sleep go see if i can find the humanities library because i have to make some notes out of a big reference book that may or may not be there before i can do my homework for verbal folklore on tuesday.
fun facts about swedish finland. they have this huge reference work called "finland swedish folklore" that was collected mainly by amateur college students who tramped cluelessly around in the country with notebooks, asking people to tell them a story or joke or aphorism, over a period of over half a century starting in the late 1800s. and this includes one entire volume about the size of a good collegiate dictionary entirely filled with riddles, for instance. and many of these riddles? were collected without the answers. and dude, they're never going to find out now.
