It's not the hd cables, although we've successfully found an old one that didn't work. The brand new one is still giving kernel panic! Attempted to kill init! And Linux is still misidentifying the ATA HDD as an SCSI. Way to completely scare me to death when the first replacement cable made it unable to detect the hd at all. It looks like the next move is replacing hardware and then worrying about software problems after. I guess I should back shit up yet again.
