adventures in plebefic

Last night an idle delicious search prompted by Yuletide-born curiosity (there's a very amusing Mac & PC story in this year's Yuletide haul called Hanging Out, BFF, with a running joke about Vista security settings) showed me that there exists a plebe fandom for Mac/PC fic. There's usually badfic, now, but that doesn't mean there's always plebefic for everything. I didn't expect a community including 13-chapter epics, unintentionally funny authors' notes, and cut tags that look like "( -:¦:-•:*''''*:•.-:¦:-Let the Magic Begin-:¦:-•:*''''*:•-:¦:- )". When I followed a bookmark to the main community, that cut tag confronted me right on the main page, along with a high school AU and several pieces of fanart based on it. Also the line, "Ahh, Macintosh, now I finally have you in my grasp." The things you can find on the internet. I daren't look for the inevitable story about Mac and PC getting Ideas from slash about them. The creative use of USB ports was already a bit much for me.

rename token?

The 1s in my username have long plagued me. They're a leftover from when I first got an aim name at the tender age of 14, if you can believe that, and about 11 years old now (the same age as my dog, coincidentally).

The problem is that the usernames cimorene and cim are already taken on livejournal. Last year isilya went to a great deal of trouble trying to get them for me from the teenies who haven't updated them in like 8 years, but didn't have any luck. I've thought a lot about what I might do with a name-change token, like cimorenest or cimorened, both of which are okay but not wholly satisfying. Now I'm thinking about cimness, which is currently my writing journal. It's also my current aim handle and my favourite of several nicknames, because it preserves the desired regal air along with an infusion of whimsy. It would be an exact representation of my personality if it also had a whiff of misanthropy, elitism, or at least snark, but one can't have everything.

So it's not like I need it as backup of my fiction. I have webspace at cimorene.net and plenty of room for backups on waxjism.org and also some emergency backup space given to me by the gracious and lovely anatsuno at cimorene.anatsuno.net as well. So I've been thinking about that.

Thanks ever so much to the beauteous anatsuno who gave me a rename token, I have renamed my main journal. This is me now! Everything should redirect. And if you'd friended my fic journal, which was called cimness, I've salvaged the things I had stored there and deleted it. Daniel Jackson's a Ninja

I didn't think I'd ever need wip amnesty, but I was journalcleaning and came across this fragment of a story where Daniel Jackson turns out to be a ninja that I started writing for southpaw526 four years ago.
