  • The latest Dilbert plot about the new team leader who spells his name like Jesus but it's pronounced Hay-soos. (see [livejournal.com profile] dilbertdaily)

  • The snow is melting. It's 8°C! It's sunny! Fuck yes! Maybe within a month it will be spring! But don't hold your breath!

  • Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. If I weren't too lazy to do all the work I would totally make a Sarah-centric vid to the Gounod Ave Maria (I have an awesome new recording of this by Kokia), plus a Cameron-centric vid to Gummiband by kent. It's a good thing I'm too lazy because there isn't a very big population of Swedish-speaking vid watchers: but it's an unbeatable temptation because their (well, his, because they're all written by Jokke) lyrics are just so much better!

  • Bones. I already loved it, but I've started rewatching it again. (Last time I started to marathon, I took a break and watched Heroes, Poirot, and TSCC instead.)

  • The endless quantity of goodfic (mixed in with badfic, but that can be fun too) available in media fandom if you look. The way I can be blown away as if for the first time by stories unearthed in my own recs page. The way fandoms I thought were dead can stir my obsession again with unexpected new stories.

  • Bran cereal with milk. It's as sweet and nutty and crunchy and delicious as a dessert. Who'd have thought something so simple would be tastier than the average restaurant-bought Finnish dessert?

  • Coloured opaque tights. I bought some red and grey ones two weeks ago, but I'm still after a purple pair and a green pair at least.

  • The way cats smell, and the way they smell better when they're warm or happy, and the way they smell even better than that when they're warm and happy.

  • The way my baby loves me! I read out loud from [livejournal.com profile] unnecessaryquot a lot, and just now she said in response, "Oh, I brought you a present!" and tossed me a little packet of silica gel that reads DESSICANT SILICA GEL THROW AWAY "DO NOT EAT". That's true love, dude.

Does anyone here actively read het? Not like as in, I read Morgan/Garcia whenever I can find it, or well, I've spent months looking for some decent Labyrinth fic (although both are true of me), but like, even an occasional foray into a healthy or plentiful currently active het fandom like in Harry Potter or SGA (and I don't mean like the occasional Rodney/Teyla fest populated mostly by members of slash fandom - both because I still won't break OTP and because I'm looking for het produced by primarily het shippers/writers)? Where would I start looking for recs - any ideas beyond the basic shipper communities and archives?

I've tried looking for some good het before, mainly out of curiosity and a kind of dissatisfaction, because in one way a romance is a romance, but in another way - like because gender roles are still really different in our society - it really isn't, unless the slash romance is annoyingly mischaracterised.

In consequence of such thoughts I've dipped my toe into Harry Potter several times - a couple weeks' reading, maybe four or ten novels' worth when you put it all together - under the theory that it was probably the most plentiful there, but I've never had a really good handle on where to start, or where to go after I exhausted one source (such as one goodish author). Alas, in my experience f/f seems to really flourish only in fandoms where it's canon (Xena, B5). Even in HP where there's lots of it, from what I've found it's mostly quite short and insubstantial.
