These distressed leather boots with military styling look like the footwear for a majorette uniform to go with the titular skeleton marching band from The Black Parade. They've also added the now-widespread fat metal-tipped Chloé heel (a la here). (Modcloth.com calls them "risque", which isn't the worst name they could have, I suppose.)

so many family activities, so little time

This is Wax's Christmas present - an Ikea Ektorp Jennylund armchair with a cover from Bemz. We went to get the innards (ie the actual chair) today at Ikea Reso because Ikea only delivers Jennylund with a slipcover, and we didn't want none of their stinkin' slipcovers. The cover hasn't quite arrived yet, but we were fully expecting it today - maybe tomorrow.

And we also got a CAKE SERVER!!!! Never again to serve cake with a regular knife and fork, or a spatula. Unless we lose it again, like we did with the corkscrew last night.
