perfect timing as always, bb
9 Jul 2018 01:03 pmFor her entire perfect life up until this year, the BB, now age 11, has not cared that much about food. She had foods she wouldn't eat, but she didn't have favorites and she frequently would wander off without finishing a single serving of wet food. She was more interested in acrobatics, snuggling, eating dirt (literally. out of plant pots, by chewing on the roots), destroying things, etc.

Until a couple of months ago when she got an infection, and we were told to get her to eat any fluids we could, so we got a bunch of wet foods to try to tempt her with (since she typically prefers kibble) and discovered she would eat the cheapest cat tuna in the Finnish grocery stores, typically store-branded, and made up of the bits of tuna left over after they can the nice tuna for human consumption (I'm pretty sure I've found pieces of scale in there and it's definitely got a lot of ground up gristle in it and it comes out of the can practically black already - okay, a dark mauve brown - but the point is it's incredibly gross, even in comparison to regular catfood tuna). This is an incredibly spoiled cat, who has been fed a wide variety of much more expensive tuna catfoods that she doesn't like nearly as much.
Because she liked it so much, I was giving it to her in little doses - about 2 tsp at a time, because whenever she fills all the way up on food her stomach revolts and she vomits it up immediately without digesting (it's a common issue with Cornish rexes) - about 6-8 times per day. She decided she liked it. She got addicted to it. And since her recovery, she's been coming to beg for it several times per day...
... right as all the Finnish grocery stores decide they won't bother to carry it anymore. We keep going to new stores looking for it only to discover they don't have it either. Our corner store stopped. The second closest one stopped. Prisma Länsikeskus had it one time and another time they were out. Same with the S-market in Wiklund downtown. We crossed the market square with refrigerated stuff in our bags last Tuesday after S-Market Wiklund let us down to try the K-market in Hansa, but they didn't have any either.
Trying Citymarket Länsikeskus today (even though otherwise I would absolutely do my shopping downtown because the buses run so much more frequently). If they don't have it she's gonna be mad.
She likes the stuff so much she will come and do that "Little Timmy's down the well!!" act, complete with a gentle plaintive "Mae!" noise and she'll even bite
waxjism.
