Ruska (fall color)
16 Sep 2021 09:07 pmI unpacked the first 2022 calendars at work a month ago - I think they've all arrived now. There's a big pile of 2021 calendars in the clearance bins, but I can't help thinking that at 2 or 3 bucks they're priced fairly optimistically in September, which is, remember, month 9 out of 12. Three quarters! If you bought a calendar now, you'd get to use four pages of it! I'd be interested to see some statistics though. Maybe I'm wrong and actually there are decent sales of current-year calendars after August. If so, that's extremely amusing.
Time sure does fly though. I only had the vaguest notion that kids were going back to school, and then it's like BAM, get ready for next year! (Actually maybe that's why, because the new academic calendars are fall 21-spring 22? No, but then why restock the wall calendars at the same time? And the farmer's almanac?)
I also spent a ridiculous amount of time today stocking candles and rickety decorative lanterns that are designed to hold candles in them. The Christmas lights are being put out for sale too. (Finland doesn't have much of a Halloween season, and the Finnish version of Target definitely doesn't.) Luckily I took allergy meds this morning, because otherwise standing in the Stinky Aisle (as I always call perfume and perfumed-things-like-candles departments) that long would have given me a massive headache. Ugh, perfume is a scourge and I hate it. On the other hand, as laughably rickety as the lanterns typically are, they did make me slightly want to light candles inside a bunch of lanterns. I know my attention span wouldn't put up with the door and stuff in the way for long, so ultimately I am better off with candles on dishes and in glasses where they are easily lit. But the glass is very shiny.
