I started trying to read Tanith Lee and Patricia McKillip at the same time, more or less.
I'm finding Lee's style lovely and her Flat Earth setting mostly enchanting, but her characters and plots frequently irritating (I've read about 1.6 novels). And I find McKillip's premises and even the idea of her characters enchanting, but beyond its surface lyricism (which is pleasant enough though not enchanting), her storytelling style absolutely exasperating (I've read the beginning few pages or chapters of I think 3 different series).
Somehow I feel like if they could be combined it could be much better...
