I knew in advance that I had to make two phonecalls today - 1. to the employment coordinator social worker about a new work practice and 2. to the health center for the number for psychiatric nurses, who are the ones who give the adhd test battery.

Obviously, I hate the phone, and I hate making phone calls even more, so I tried setting a series of alarms for myself last night as if I had to leave the house - usually there's one to make sure I'm ready to leave with fifteen minutes to spare, then one with five minutes to spare to grab my jacket and shoes and so on. In this case, one to finish my breakfast, one to go get pen and a paper, and one to make the call, but I put them too close together. So I didn't have time to finish my breakfast before the 'get a pen and paper' alarm went off, which enabled my brain to just dismiss them. I mean, I set new ones, but it took me a few hours, an extra cup of tea, and an entire benzo.

The calls weren't difficult and they both went fine, except I have to call the mental health booking number tomorrow because it's only answered for one hour a day, which is frankly ridiculous, but whatever! The social worker was nice as usual and said she'll call me back. At that point the benzo hadn't even started to wear off so I took the cats for a walk around the yard feeling soupy and sleepy with cooked spaghetti limbs and then came back inside and ate a bunch of icecream with rainbow sprinkles. It's all worn off now, but it took a few hours.

We're going to Helsinki tomorrow and I was looking up Helsinki's historical graveyards (don't bother, they're not that exciting, the oldest one only dates from the 16th century and is not that cool) and surfed through the stuff about the history of the Jewish population in Finland. Learned some random facts! And confirmed both the Finnish synagogues are Orthodox, which I already knew but is really offputting! Anyway, I just emerged from the website annoyed at Orthodoxy (and actually orthodoxy too, for that matter) and about it existing at all, but I did find a page called "kosher food" with links to a mediterranean/middle eastern kosher/halal café, a couple of caterers, and a company that sells refrigerated and frozen hummus, baba ganoush, and falafal to grocery stores. So actually that's definitely a win. I hope I can visit the café at some point. The closest we've ever had in Turku, I think, are a couple of Greek restaurants - which might have hummus and tabbouleh, they do sometimes, but it's probably a little different.
