It's lazy times
5 Nov 2022 01:06 pmSOMEBODY (my wife) decided in the middle of this week (which was endless) to say we would love to have her brother's whole family (less than or equal to 6 people, the triplets now being 15) for dinner (correct) today (Saturday) at any time at all, then announced yesterday that she wants us to empty the diningroom (which is full of bunny cages) and sweep it out before they got here, but went to bed after I did at 2 am and set her alarm for noon, leaving exactly 2 hours until they should be leaving Turku, less than 45 minutes' drive away.
The record-breaking highest sunlight for the month of November in Pargas was 40 hours in the whole month, some decades ago. One year it got (record low?) 9 hours of sunlight in November (FOR THE WHOLE MONTH! PUT TOGETHER!). We learned this trivia at the opening event of Lux Archipelago, a campaign where people decorate the towns of the Finnish archipelago with light displays. There was a big crowd with lots of children and dogs watching the outdoor performance of a light juggler (actually a professional juggler just doing a light show with an LED raincoat, sunglasses, balls, sticks, and giant rainbow yo-yo, but it was SO cool) and the light artist dance troupe Belenos from Helsinki. It was just two of their dancers, but it was also pretty fantastic. And of course, since it was 6 pm, it was already well past pitch black, apart from street lights in the distance and a few times when some asshole turned on a car and blinded the crowd with their headlights from the hill behind the tiny mini stage.
