a brief scheduled absence
7 Jul 2006 12:13 amwell, so, last night i went to bed at about 3 am, filled with inspiration for writing but unable to keep my eyes open any longer. "that's okay," i said, "i'll just write in the morning." i woke up early, but writing didn't happen! before i even got out of the house, our flat was full of extended family. there was some wholesome togetherness and consuming sushi and then HELL.
wax_jism and i, on the limited budget of how much money i happened to have in my regular disposal account, were trying to find a wrap to match my dark red dress for her brother's wedding. we looked for hours, getting side-tracked several times by shoe sales, until finally going back to the first store we'd gone to and buying one that isn't even the same colour as my dress. uck. and before you decry my frivolity with the shawl, i hate shawls.
so, yeah.
so now we're leaving tomorrow at lunch for the wedding, coming back saturday night just in time to download doctor who, probably. victors, it would displease me if i don't finish this [apparently] never-ending band of princes fic before then.
cim: have you ever heard of this idea that you can't go inside a church with bare shoulders?
cim: apparently it's like iron-clad in finnish lutheran churches and we had to spend hours today hunting for a shawl to match my dress for wax's brother's wedding. i hate the sight of this shawl now. i wish i could burn it in effigykessie: ! I never heard of that!
kessie: i know there's certain regulations if you meet the pope, but i don't know much about lutheran churches - we don't have many here.
cim: apparently in finland they're so traditional that for a catholic wedding women can't even wear short or half-sleeves. they have to have on long-sleeved jackets.
so, yeah.
