this isn't the first insanely momokai-ish episode, but of the several high points, i think this one might be my favourite because of some of the dialogue under the cut which makes me go all quiveringly happy.

fuji and inui being omniscient! *shivers of delight*

towel to swing in the river: a few bucks. atobe's mountain cottage and its tennis courts: a couple of million bucks. the look on oshitari's face when the boomerang snake goes under his chair: priceless.

jiroh is beating kaidoh and momo, worried about his - er - rival, starts muttering things like, "what does he think he's doing!" he gets so riled he forgets that fuji is standing nearby and is shocked and a little frightened when fuji takes this as an opportunity for some faintly sinister matchmaking which might be either sarcasm, gentle mockery, or fuji's way of saying 'shut up': "why don't you go out there on the court in his place, then?"

the fact that the suggestion is fuji's doesn't stop momo from taking a cue from it. (or maybe he's afraid not to.) he goes to glare at kaidoh through the fence and ask him what the hell he's doing.

kaidoh growls at momo a bit. momo insults him, in language pretty restrained considering it's from momo to kaidoh.

they growl at each other. except less of the growling, more of the eyefucking. and momo smiles.

more eyefucking.

then momo's like, "if you have something to say to me, then say it after you win," all deliberately and glaring and smiling at the same time and eyefucking and hot and he's totally talking about the way they have been making out for weeks except they never talk about it, so are they boyfriends, or what, and he didn't know either until now, but suddenly they are in sync, just like they were playing doubles, and he knows just what to say because he knows kaidoh. and kaidoh knows him. and they know that kaidoh is going to win and then they are going to finally start doing something other than making out and not talking - even though right now, here, they have already started to do it, because they have openly acknowledged to each other their connection.

kaidoh closes his eyes and assents.

then he's like, "i hope you're ready to be on the bottom, because i am SO going to win,"

and momo is like, "if you win, i will drag you down on top of me."

kaidoh goes off, energised and smiling, to win.

momo stands there and watches and he can't tear his eyes away. he smiles the whooooooooole time.

the silver pair are baffled by the apparently combative stances, but who would recognise the glimmer of the True Doubles Soul Bond if not they? "so all that was just to calm him down? is that fair?" they wonder. fortunately for momo and kaidoh, sexually tense conversations during the match were not strictly outlawed.
