cimorene: cartoony drawing of a woman's head in profile giving dubious side-eye (artsy)

i've made these a number of times in the past year and a half and i thought i'd posted the recipe, but maybe i haven't. (otoh i know i've posted the recipe for toll house chocolate chip cookies, which are my ideal baked goods, but they're not in my recipes tag, so i've obviously missed something.)

these cookies are something i eat when i'm craving chocolate. they're chewy and very sweet and very chocolatey, kind of fudgey. they're quite rich, so i can't eat too many of them at once; i haven't experimented, but i suspect that reducing the quantity of cocoa a bit - maybe even by as much as half (and the sugar a bit too) - would make them more palatable to the slightly-less-sweet-toothed consumer.

chocolate chocolate chip cookies

baking flour:  2 1/4 cups or 5,4 dL
salt: 1 tsp
baking soda: 1 tsp
unsweet cocoa powder: ½ cup or 1,2 dL
vanilla sugar: 1 Tbsp or vanilla extract: 1 tsp
granulated sugar: 1 cup or 2,4 dL
brown sugar: 1 cup or 2,4 dL
butter/margarine, softened: 1 cup or 225 g
eggs: 2
chocolate chips: 2 cups or bars of semi-sweet chocolate, chopped into small squares: 200-300 g

preheat oven to 190*C/ 375* F.

stir together flour, salt, baking soda, cocoa and vanilla sugar. in another bowl beat eggs and butter, then add sugar (and vanilla extract if you use that instead). gradually stir dry mixture into wet and mix until well combined. fold in chocolate bits and stir to distribute them evenly.

drop tablespoonsful of dough onto baking parchment/greased cookie sheets (make them rather round and space carefully, as they will melt and run together). bake about 9-10 minutes.
