i would like to note that i totally thought i responded to this! there was a whole comment of ohno being a teacher--in his class on leadership--and the leading by having sho maim--and how nino can't fly because of his broken wing omg wingfic XD! and and and i really thought i had posted that.

no, i had not seen that. ♥ hahahaha, i love that when i see nino kissing ohno, it takes me quite a while to produce the realisation that there might be anything slightly out of the ordinary about that. like, in other fandoms. because for ohmiya there isn't. (i mean, they don't do it in every episode or anything, but i'm not surprised at all. i've rarely seen any couples with such coupley body language as them. like some talk show appearance aes was showing me yesterday in which jun seemed to be edging in front of them out of nervousness that they were going to start making out on camera or something, and the way that when nino let go of ohno to give sho a high-five, he apparently felt sad and alone almost immediately and edged back over and made some kind of groping motion behind ohno's back - either for ohno's hand or to actually grope him. or tug on his clothes, i suppose.)

2. this is why i was shocked i had not already commented!
a. ohno being a teacher, "you in the hat in the back?" that icon is the Ohno Teaches A Class On Leadership icon, ie: "let sho do it". XD
b. which progresses to ohno being, i don't know, a mafia boss? "sho, go take care of that man. maim him, don't kill him." XD so that was what i meant to say.

wingfic would totally involve nino being so body-awkward at times because (dundundun) he actually has wings! it's hard for him to get the hang of walking without slouching, though he's perfectly fine at flying! but then, somehow, he's injured omg! and ohno finds him when he goes out on a walk in the middle of the night to clear his mind, staying up late playing with clay--and he's like, "ah, should i take you to a hospital?" and nino's like, "what are you, retarded? don't take me to a hospital, don't tell anyone you've ever seen me!" and ohno's like, but but, you're clearly hurt--let me at least take you home and get you some tea or something.

home in this case still probably being home with his parents. XD! because that's funny to me.
ohno: *unlocking the door* besides, my family's asleep--
nino: wait, you live with your parents? how old are you?
ohno: twenty.
nino: what the hell. i can't stay here. what if they see me--

and sure enough ohno's mom is like, ah, who's your new friend? when ohno goes down for coffee in the morning, "don't tell me you stayed up all night again, satoshi. it's really not good for you, even if you feel like you're being productive."

and so nino is adopted into the ohno family just by being there, and none of them comment on his broken wing, but ohno's sister comes by to visit and, for the purposes of this, is studying to be, like, a brain surgeon or something, and helps set it and clean it out like she see's winged people all the time.

there would have to be some worries about nino being seen--possibly by ohno's friends who come over!

and possibly ohno's father is really gruff, thinking that nino is a druggie or something terrible that ohno picked up at school. (he'd be relieved when he finds out that nino is just a winged boy that ohno will possibly be liaisoning with in a sexual manner.)

so, this is an AU where nino has wings, but arashi doesn't exist? because a lot of the nsync and lotr rps wingfic when it first took off was set in THIS universe, and we just secretly - didn't know. that they had wings. i remember an nsync one where they were practising the parts of their stage show where they get moved around on wires, and the wires broke or something, and instead of falling! to his deeeaaath! the wings came out! or something like that.

2. and uh. i totally figured out what you meant about the teacher thing later except then i was already in bed, and was too lazy to turn the internets back on to comment again.

ohno's sister should be a vet!

and his mom should be really relieved to finally see ohno socialising properly by bringing people home that she considers the wings a completely negligible issue! but she should be like, "do you like normal food or - " and nino should ask her for birdseed, and then realise he has to tell her he was joking because she's related to ohno, after all, and by that point he has started to notice certain things about ohno.

2.a. 1is ohno's class on leadership really really short, or do they spend the rest of the allotted time watching movies?

2.b. that reminds me of one of my favourite dave barry articles, from back like the first time bush the elder ran for office, in which he talked about how he would be the president, and introduced the concept of all his foreign relations being handled by the Department of a Bunch of Guys Named Victor. it would operate by orders such as "victors, it would not displease me to learn that saddam hussein had had a fatal accident in the shower".

yeah, of course they are invisible most of the time - i mean, if you live in regular society, and go to school your whole childhood and everything, there would be tons of times where they would become visible. so, i don't know, maybe they're also insubstantial because they're stored in an alternate dimension or something. i think part of the crazy schtick of wingfic is that they never do bother to explain it adequately, though. and i mean, i like aus too - but - it's already an au if someone has wings, too, and putting the wings into reality makes them kind of more funny. if nino is some freakish mostly-solitary forest creature who never really interacts with humankind there's less built-in conflict about keeping it a secret.

:X what if their tour got delayed! or nino had to be left out of something and then, like aiba, filmed talking endlessly about What Arashi Means To Him.

i've really been thinking about my natural inclination to start with things as "they are not in arashi" AUs, and i think i've definitely realized that i have to do a lot less work if i set it in arashi both for emotional climaxes and for setting up the relationship to start with.

possibly i could get away with explaining the non-explainingness by having nino admit that he had never explored with them as much as he could; he's been busy a lot and even before that only his sister knew and that was when they had both found out after she had pushed him out of a tree. because aiba would definitely ask questions! (and be so disappointed--but understanding!--when nino looks at him like, oh, c'mon, and sho says, "um, aibachan, we're not doing a no arashi on nino's wings.)

i have a terrible urge to have there be some interview-type situation where the host is like, "where is nino?" and ohno's like, "he's hurt his wings so he's resting" and everyone being like, omg, and the host being like, "i'm sorry to hear that"--because who would take a statement like that seriously? obviously it would be assumed that ohno was being a little bizarre!

i wouldn't want it to be more than two months that nino couldn't work, because that's a huge amount of time to not do things. o.o

also, i can't imagine nino filming What Arashi Means To Him. i just can't. XD!

hmmm, well, i like not in arashi aus too. if they are in arashi, it's not nearly as much of an au. more like a sub-au, a minor au! (although okay, if magic works or japan rules the world or is communist or something, i guess it would still be an au.) it's just - fun to pick them up and put them in more ordinary (or less ordinary) settings and situations. since they are real people, too, it kind of seems more - legitimate, or something?

right now i'm stuck with the--hm, maybe you haven't been briefed on this one, but the groping-on-the-train story. (should end up short enough, so!) i can't figure out if i want it AU or not... but i'm leaning towards not. but i know what you mean about the feeling of legitimacy! because they're real it's easier to imagine their situation changing but still somehow knowing each other... it's more than that but it's hard to say why.

and, okay, in the not-arashi version when nino is camping out in ohno's room while his wing heals, it's tender, right? ohno probably gives him a shirt or two and they cut them and then tie them or tape them together so they don't touch the wing, but when he can nino leaves them off, because they just get in the way, he can't put them on himself! so ohno probably has lots of opportunity to draw nino, there. possibly also in a pervy way. and probably he doesn't have to ask, either.

nino is interested, he wants to pose, he wants to know, how are you supposed to pose? and ohno's like, oh no, don't do anything, just, you know, stay there, you don't have to hold completely still or anything. but the next time ohno leaves, nino looks at his notebook and he finds another couple of sketches of him, some not finished, and then when he knows ohno is due back - does ohno have a shift or something? he schedules some posing time, and takes his shirt off and lies on his stomach so the wings are kind of visible, and dozes off like that, and so ohno comes back and nino's moved a little but he's still kind of on display, because he was intending to pose like that, and nino's like oh! hi, let's try again. and ohno's dropping his bag without looking at anything but nino - he's used to nino lounging shirtless in his room now what with the shirt difficulties, but he hasn't by any means got tired of looking yet. try again?, says ohno. drawing? says nino, and flexes the wings a little, these are what you wanted to draw, right? so ohno sits down near nino's shoulder for a good angle and starts drawing and nino lies there getting sleepier and watching ohno out of slitted eyes.
