help?

oishikatta.com. i love it. i am in love. damn, i am in love with too many things/people/words now. (means yummy, in japanese, and i imagine they're applying it to people... not quite the usual thing and so all the cooler.)

you suck. my envy is boundless. have always been more interested in japanese boys, but still. also don't like manga. or electronics. like: j pop, stupid japanese game shows on tv. toast and keeki for breakfast. sushi rice. macha. macha icecream. somen for lunch. ramen. okonomiyaki. tempura. tatami. narrow sidewalks, little cars, rear-view mirrors that fold up, beepers for backing up, open-air malls, sky-scrapers, tiny little yards, solid walls for fences. katakana everywhere, funny english, and random loanwords. weird vending machines. the subway. answering the phone moshi moshi. black hair. kimono. ukiyo-e. history. eating with hashi.

there's a lot of food in there!!! ^_^
the things i am most going to be loving is definitely the toys and the chicks....

and the mad roads. cos my friend showed me a pic where there's like 7 different layers of roads all weaving in and out, in tokyo. it is going to be the coolest!!!

they are sort of cute, but don't you think it's weird for roads to be your favorite part of a country?

it's not the road themselves it's the fact that someone clearly ned it that seven roads would cross one point all above and below each other on stilts and stuff. it's the whole japanese culture that 'hey, we can have a 7 layered roads system!'. i love random things like that.

i can't wait to speak english to people and be wowed by their english. Gav was at school today and some of the kids were giggling cos they'd found 'spanking' in the dictionary.....

you can always go again!

cost is a factor. but, yes, i do plan to go my junior year.

cost is indeed a factor. i am lucky to have free accommodation. woohoo. and pretty near tokyo too. and a free floor of someone's house in tokyo also. hooray!

what's junior year? (how old are people in it? i don't understand anyone's school system except UK... i am ignorant...)

it's the third year of college. and i'll have financial aid--it costs the same as college. which is a fucking LOT (i go to the most expensive school in the states, would you believe?) but yes, free accomodation with a host family in kyoto--i love kyoto, not particularly fond of tokyo. i'm a kansai girl. kansai-ben! woo-hoo!

uhm, i'll be... 20-21.

oh confusion. so what year and you now and how old are you now?

oh kyoto would be cool but it's far from where Gavin lives and he's been there already and travel is so expensive in japan.....

maybe one day......

freshman. first year. 19.

i've heard that transportation is expensive. but i didn't know that. i've never had to pay for transportation there because i had host families both times and they treated me.

aha i see.
yeah apparently transport is ridiculously expensive, but being japan very quick, efficient and nice.

i would've liked to go on a swishy bullet train to kyoto to do the whole touristy-geisha temples gates stuff but think it might be too expensive.

japan still; they were getting too narrow

i don't know, i think it'd be worth it. if you could save, maybe? are you going to be there for a major matsuri? hina is in may and gion is in july. gion matsuri is the most fantastic magnificent wonderful--! oh. and i actually saw geisha.

<--has pictures with a maiko, who only came up to her shoulder or so, in silk kimono and obi and enormous elaborate hair and white face
