cimorene: cartoony drawing of a woman's head in profile giving dubious side-eye (serious)

Did I ever mention the longing for new shoes? In my soul. That one. A sad longing for shoes, because expensive shoes are somehow more attractive than others.

[[livejournal.com profile] cimorene111 and [livejournal.com profile] shiroi_chi are in the shoe department of giant slightly tacky department store Halonen for the purpose of mocking things.]
[livejournal.com profile] cimorene111: Wtf?
[livejournal.com profile] shiroi_chi: Wtf? Those are incredibly fugly.
[livejournal.com profile] cimorene111: What is even going on?
[livejournal.com profile] shiroi_chi: What is that toe?
[livejournal.com profile] cimorene111: What does this button even do?
[livejournal.com profile] shiroi_chi: It's completely useless.
[livejournal.com profile] cimorene111: But I guess it's not that bad.
[livejournal.com profile] shiroi_chi: ...It's not?
[livejournal.com profile] cimorene111: ...Actually it's kind of cute.
[livejournal.com profile] shiroi_chi: Cute?
[livejournal.com profile] cimorene111: Like a shoe that... a gnome would wear or something.
[[livejournal.com profile] shiroi_chi gives up on humouring [livejournal.com profile] cimorene111 and cracks up.]
[livejournal.com profile] cimorene111: Actually, I want these shoes! What are they? ...Oh great. They're Clarks. And they're 90 bucks.

See? It's like an instinct, drawing me unerringly to expensive shoes and pretentious brands, and making me like them regardless of how bizarre they look! Also, dude, what? I even like these.

Saw Clerks 2 last night, finally. We ♥ Kevin Smith. So does Brother Windows, although I think his buddy (who hadn't seen a single Kevin Smith film before!) was less impressed. I've reflected a little, and I think it's a good thing the gayness in those movies is so sweet and funny and, generally speaking, already satisfying - because there's very little on offer in the way of fandom out there. Although [livejournal.com profile] julad's Clerks piece from last yuletide was exemplary.
