cimorene: cartoony drawing of a woman's head in profile giving dubious side-eye (serious)

Did I ever mention the longing for new shoes? In my soul. That one. A sad longing for shoes, because expensive shoes are somehow more attractive than others.

[[livejournal.com profile] cimorene111 and [livejournal.com profile] shiroi_chi are in the shoe department of giant slightly tacky department store Halonen for the purpose of mocking things.]
[livejournal.com profile] cimorene111: Wtf?
[livejournal.com profile] shiroi_chi: Wtf? Those are incredibly fugly.
[livejournal.com profile] cimorene111: What is even going on?
[livejournal.com profile] shiroi_chi: What is that toe?
[livejournal.com profile] cimorene111: What does this button even do?
[livejournal.com profile] shiroi_chi: It's completely useless.
[livejournal.com profile] cimorene111: But I guess it's not that bad.
[livejournal.com profile] shiroi_chi: ...It's not?
[livejournal.com profile] cimorene111: ...Actually it's kind of cute.
[livejournal.com profile] shiroi_chi: Cute?
[livejournal.com profile] cimorene111: Like a shoe that... a gnome would wear or something.
[[livejournal.com profile] shiroi_chi gives up on humouring [livejournal.com profile] cimorene111 and cracks up.]
[livejournal.com profile] cimorene111: Actually, I want these shoes! What are they? ...Oh great. They're Clarks. And they're 90 bucks.

See? It's like an instinct, drawing me unerringly to expensive shoes and pretentious brands, and making me like them regardless of how bizarre they look! Also, dude, what? I even like these.

Saw Clerks 2 last night, finally. We ♥ Kevin Smith. So does Brother Windows, although I think his buddy (who hadn't seen a single Kevin Smith film before!) was less impressed. I've reflected a little, and I think it's a good thing the gayness in those movies is so sweet and funny and, generally speaking, already satisfying - because there's very little on offer in the way of fandom out there. Although [livejournal.com profile] julad's Clerks piece from last yuletide was exemplary.

I was prepared to like those shoes, because I generally do, but dude. No.

But. They're the perfect cross between oxfords and loafers. And they have ZEBRA STRIPES. I admit I would prefer them without ponyhair...

Pony. Hair. There is no mitigation, I'm sorry. Although the stripes are kind of cute.

Yeah, okay, they'd be better without the ponyhair. That part is a bit gross. I just want some zebra print loafers.

I bought these shoes (http://www.dune.co.uk/catalogue/styles.asp?r=9&g=71&s=233&y=S07LSU10CAB516F&page=1) two days ago. They make me very happy. :D

I really love these (http://www.dune.co.uk/catalogue/styles.asp?r=9&g=71&s=233&y=S07LSA75CAB513L&page=1) from the same page! They have an awesome 20s-30s vibe. Halonen carries the ones on the bottom row with the metallic toe caps, embroidery and little row of buckles on the toe. I kind of like the shape, but the colours are just too utterly bizarre for me.

Haha, I nearly bought them in black! I like the ones with the buckles on them as well, but I can't wear pumps without some sort of strap on them because my feet are weird. It's one of the things I'm most bitter about. *sigh* They're so pretty, though. I spend hours just wandering shoe shops and thinking of all the maybes and what ifs. XD

I like the black but I don't have anything I could wear to go with black, red and metallic gold floral. I don't even have a little black dress, but if I did it would be too dressy to wear very often anyway. They have them on display in the window with some fairly casual, jean skirts / hideous footless tights kind of outfits, but they really look wrong with them.

I just clicked on the link to those shoes and went blind, thank you very much.

(No, seriously, yesterday I was coveting zebra loafers with red trim).

I feel my longing is vindicated! Red trim would probably be even better though, I admit.
