cimorene: cartoony drawing of a woman's head in profile giving dubious side-eye (snap)

As [livejournal.com profile] bibliotech said, just when I was thinking, "Hey, it's been a slow day..."

Victoria Bitter/Amy Player/Mr. Frodo/Jordan Wood reappears to confess all? The fandom wank post is here.

For those of you who don't know about VB and the incredible saga of her crazeh, it's part of your fandom history! You must read it! And here is the story at fwgreatesthits, largely related by [livejournal.com profile] mpoetess and reposted by my own beloved [livejournal.com profile] guinevere33 a few years ago (but with help from many other people, as you can see in the comments). Also here is a shorter introduction to the whole thing on the fandom wank wiki.

If it is, it made me actually have sympathy for them.

Yeah, me too. I mean, I had a bit already - it was obvious they were crazy, and even if you're not crazy I can have some sympathy for people who are homeless earning money as street performers and being harrassed by people from the internets, you know? But never a really HUGE amount, so there's more now.

But I do think it would be premature to just buy the story.

Wow, seriously? I was never a part of LotR fandom, but I heard enough about what went on to boggle at the crazy, and to be just a little freaked out when I saw both VB and her girlfriend at Hollywood and Highland in late November of last year. (Does that poke a hole in her post? I can't tell, her chronology around that point is particularly confused)

No, not as far as I can tell. From my reading she says she learned in October about the opportunity to go to Toronto, but the bit about being lost in Buffalo is in February. Since it doesn't take that long to go across country unless they were, like, biking, I think there's not necessarily a mismatch.

Which doesn't mean the story's true of course, because they've told plenty of plausible stories over the years along with the ones that were completely implausible.

In six months Orangeblossom's going to show up to raise money for a sex change operation or for a transgendered Tolkien fan children's charity to "surprise" her with or something, Y/N?

It's kind of frightening how many times I've had to edit that post.

I'm sure there's pages more of wtf-ish details still out there.
