I think it's the vocab equivalent of using {} instead of parentheses. I don't know, though - I'm more pained by the second person, but then I only had to imagine the eye problem, not feel it...

It really would. You know what this fandom needs? I secret cutter of others or, you know, Frank, who once he runs out of free skin on himself becomes a secret tattooer of others.

Yeah but cutting's quicker. To secretly tattoo others you need either a tatoo gun needle thingy and a lot of ink and a power supply or like, I dunno, India ink and anaesthesia and... needle and thread? Secret cutters can just carry concealed razorblades.

Yeah, but the idea of Gerard not paying attention to his back hurting cause he thinks, on well, just another concert and then walking past a mirror and going, "Wtf? Frank, did you roofie me last night?"

Gerard doesn't realise until later that the swirly design Frank has tattooed on his back actually contains the letters "Frank" in curly calligraphy all worked into the pattern. 1. He didn't know Frank could draw (did he wait for an artist to make it for him, while Gerard was lying there roofied in a chair?). 2. Is Frank trying to tell him something?

He gets his answer the first time Frank sees it once it's healed. Kind of hard not to when Frank is all pressed up against the back of him and licking at the tattoo.

But it takes a while to heal, so for a week Gerard angsts in abject confusion. And frowns a lot, like this:
