music sharing, grumpiness
27 Sep 2008 08:31 pmI don't like autumn. Autumn is the time when you have not yet resigned yourself to the coming of winter, and keep fruitlessly clinging to the sun (and the temperature, although it will probably stay freakishly autumnal until January again, for all I know).
And I also don't like when it's windy enough to knock me over, or when it's overcast for weeks at a time, or when it's so rainy that you can get soaked to the skin on a 15-minute walk, or when the clouds and pressure systems are moving by so fast you have a huge pressure headache what seems like every other day.
Here is the playlist I have made for this autumn at lastfm. You can listen to it there, except for the songs that you can't listen to for whatever reason. There's multiple tracks of Girls Aloud, Queen, Kent, Emilie Autumn, Shakira, Simon & Garfunkel, Tori Amos, Kokia, and Christina Aguilera. And of course, vocal jazz, although it's a bit under-represented. If anyone likes it, I can zip and upload it with the files that aren't playable in lastfm included.

Date: 27 Sep 2008 05:48 pm (UTC)i work with a guy from russia, and it was particularly sunny outside sometime this week - i think wednesday - and he said, "maybe it'll stay like this until april!"
"you're dreaming, man," i replied.
my cousin comes from a tropical island and has never seen snow or experienced a 'winter' colder than 19C. it makes me laugh.

Date: 28 Sep 2008 05:36 pm (UTC)I love early autumn (as in right now) for the leaves changing color and gorgeous, sunny weather that's not too hot or too cold, just comfortable. I start feeling a bit down in November when the chill in the air is there to stay, the leaves fall of the trees completely, and everything looks bare and ugly. I also *hate* turning back the clocks one hour (why in the hell America still does this, I don't know)and getting out of work at 5pm and it being completely dark outside.
From your icons I take it you're a Closer fan. As painful as it can be to watch, I think it's amazing and I've seen it more times than I can count. I would also love to see it as a stage play and have been keeping an eye out for a production.

Date: 28 Sep 2008 05:44 pm (UTC)I've loved Closer since I first saw it. I've had several people tell me they find it depressing or sad, but I never got that from it - I was just impressed by the wittiness in its construction, and I've always found Alice's storyline empowering and a little funny. It's really her character I love best, aside from all the various poetic ironies. I understand that the storyline differs in the stage production though.
