Incidentally, in regards to yesterday's poll, by far my most frequent impulse purchases are books, probably because I am never subject to the feeling that a book would be a waste of money, which is what usually restrains me from other impulse purchases. I still don't make all that many, though. In the last year I've probably only impulse-bought 20 or so. I've impulse-bought 11 dvds in the same period. They probably even out, cost-wise.
For the record, I usually contemplate shoe purchases painstakingly thoroughly - my only impulse buys, in shoes, are the cheap ballet flats they have from time to time at Indiska, which has only amounted to four pairs in three years. My impulse purchases of teacups only amount to three, but it seems like more because of all the time I spend gazing at them in an aesthetically-induced haze of bliss.
