can I ask you a sneaker question? i long for a shoe that is comfortable and arch-supporting like a sneaker, and cute like the cute sneakers you post, AND goes up over my ankles (to hide my mismatched socks and keep my ankles warm) like a boot. does this shoe exist?? is it possible??

You mean... a cute boot, I suppose? Unless a high-top sneaker is high enough for you. There is a height of Converse that's taller than the ordinary high-tops, called the X-hi: http://www.converse.com/#productdetail . Personally, I prefer slightly more... boot-like ones. I'd say Sugar, Blowfish, and Ugg are the main contenders, with other brand producing knockoffs in the casual sneaker-like boot market, but there are other low ankle boots with cute styling. Doc Martens always has a range of novelty materials.
