Properly speaking, a pretentious picspam that demands you not save its pictures should have a special cover image, and a cut text in an unusual font, preferably done in pale grey, but after all the time photoshopping these collages yesterday, I don't want to do that. So use your imagination.

In more informative style, we've been in the countryside for - I'm not really sure, actually, a few weeks now, with access only to MIL's wireless broadband connection which we've taken to calling "narrow band". It has about the speed of dial-up and there's only the one modem to share between the laptops. I think Wax is keeping up pretty well, since the majority of her reading these days is ONTD AI ("I read it for the Adam Lambert news" she says with dignity), and since she has a great deal of dedication.
Pargas is on one (or actually is it several?) of the first and largest islands of the Finnish archipelago, a small industrial town of 10,000 or so I guess, surrounded by farms and summer cottages, nestled in unbelievable quantities of forest and lots of hills (Swedish speakers will insist on calling them mountains, but my standard requires that a mountain take more than 15 minutes to climb to the top of). At any rate, the phone coverage is poor, which means that the internet is unreliable. OTOH, lovely scenery and pleasant weather are reliable, so aside from a bit of decorative painting, reupholstering the porch bench, cutting bouquets all the time and an exciting interlude of uncovering a heretofore-unsuspected half of the stone terrace outside the front door... mostly I've been lounging about re-reading steadily through piles of books. And definitely not getting on the computer every day, let alone keeping up with my mail.
