temporary switch from sneaks to boots

Hi fleeps and dweeps! Fall is in the air: in my climate, time to make sure you have some shoes warmer (and more waterproof) than sneakers around before it starts snowing. So for the next little while I will be posting fall and winter boots instead of sneakers daily. It's not permanent, or anything. Probably I'll get bored after a while and start mixing sneakers in. We'll see.

I wear:
These boots all the year except when it's too hot, a pair of running shoes specially fitted for my overpronating feet when I'm exercising, and the Birks on this page when it's too hot for boots. If it helps to know what socks I'm wearing, they're purple and black striped with little skulls on them.

Shoe consultant, tell me: am I Doin It Rong or does it just go with my outfit (jeans and a very sloppy hoodie from ThinkGeek, or a flannel shirt.)

In general I am against wearing socks with sandals, but Birkenstock Arizonas are sometimes an exception. Although this sounds like you never wear anything less warm than a flannel shirt and also like you wear the same socks all the time? I'm just a bit confused there. If you had to have just one pair of socks those sound pretty great.

Anyway, I think those boots and sandals definitely project the "flannel and jeans" air.

I wear t-shirts and no socks in summer. And I tend to wear the same pair of socks until they fall apart. Thank you.

Oh good: t-shirts! Personally, I tend to wear t-shirts even in the winter because I'm addicted. I just wear them over long shirts and usually they never even emerge because I don't take my sweaters and hoodies off.

Dear shoe consultant, I need some sneakers that will not get horribly soaked when it rains, that I can actually walk in (preferably with padding around the heel) and, this is the tricky part, that are veg*n!

I was hoping for something in a dark colour (blue/black) but with winter around the corner I am starting to get a little worried about the holes in my soles so maybe I should be less fussy.

Oh! That is tough! Because vegan shoes are not often waterproof! Do you really need to RUN in the rain? Could you for example consider something more like a hiking boot? (I haven't investigated whether these can be vegan, either, but I think I could probably find some.)

All of these are really nice, but I particularly like the first ones, aesthetically speaking. I'll have to investigate how much duty would be bringing them into Canada.

For the record, my usage scenario is that I'm walking 1.6km to work every weekday and by all accounts it rains a lot here. I wear jeans to work. And am vegetarian.

Ahhh, yes. Well, then you don't want, say, rain galoshes, but boots are OK as long as they're not uncomfortable. Gotcha.

Also! Duty may not be necessary. Simple is a pretty big brand, so you might be able to find a Canadian retail outlet.
