Hat decoration questions

I find the supreme ubiquity of crocheted/knitted applique flowers on women's winter hats to be a bit humorous. Now, throughout history, flowers are only one of many hat garnishes available to the discerning fashionista. Fruit, feathers, whole birds, and in the case of Marie Antoinette, sailing ships have also enjoyed their time in the spotlight. So I've decided to draw from that pool with the appliques for my most recent (and next few) hats.

WHAT YOU SAID. Those were exactly the trio I had trouble choosing amongst!

I went with fox-face, because it had options and I honestly couldn't think of any small mammal's face that wouldn't be cute-and-or-humourous when applied to a hat, so fox won by containing multiple votes.

Think about it: squirrel hat! Vole hat! Rat hat! Badger hat! Ferret hat! (And, of course, cat hat and dog hat, with all the breed choices those entail.) Ooooh, raccoon hat! Opossum hat! Bat hat!
