Surprise, We Bought a Bus

You know when you wake up in the middle of the night and just turn on your phone to check the time and see if you have any notifications, only then there's one and the piece of the message it included makes you curious and you read it, and it's the end of (you see as you scroll up) a debate in your nuclear family about different dragon-related names, and then when you get to the top, you see it's because sometime in the middle of the night your parents, with NO warning whatsoever, have just announced that they bought a bus off of eBay? Despite never evincing any signs whatsoever of hankerings to own public transportation, that you know of? And then you read the entire conversation 3 times and it doesn't start to make any more sense, so you just go back to sleep, and when you wake up you mercifully forget the whole thing because it was so surreal that your brain accidentally filed it with your dreams?

Oh, just me then?

By the way, my parents confirmed that they forgot they hadn't told me they were bidding on this bus after having previously forgotten that they never told me they were on the lookout for a bus to buy, and my sister, to whom they told both of these things in conversations at which I was not present, also forgot that nobody ever mentioned it to me.

It's a shuttle bus, not a full-sized one, and they're going to renovate the inside into a handicapped-accessible RV and paint a dragon on the outside, apparently.

Lol. No, they were just shooting down all my sister's suggestions.

They've gotta drive one state away to pick it up next week, and then they're going to work on the DIY with a handyman pal for a while and eventually have it professionally repainted, so they don't really need to have finalized a name until they've finalized the exterior design specs anyway.

I think that actually beats all of the things my mother has somehow forgotten to tell me, and I thought she was the champion in that category.

We have a saying in my family, "grandpa's out of the hospital and doing fine", which comes from a time when whoever it was who was told this (I think my mom or one of her sisters) had never been informed that grandpa was in the hospital to begin with. XD
