Scraping through the top layer of wallpaper and the intermediate painted layer at the same time is actually not as hard as expected and does not even seem to require the wallpaper to get saturated first, which is a good thing, because puncturing the painted paper with the spiky hole-making roller that looks like a medieval torture implement didn't have any appreciable effect on the paper underneath: it made holes but when we waited half an hour and then scraped some of it off, the back of it behind the paint wasn't even wet. But it seems if you can get the edge of the scraper between the right layers it's not too hard anyway. We nearly finished the room today, so I'd estimate 2 days per downstairs room if we were both working the whole time (Wax has to go back to work next week, however).
