This reminds me that growing up in sff I occasionally heard the terms "literary sf" and "media sf" for a fandom divide with the former being supposedly superior, but in a rather historical context: cons were fully saturated with media content already as soon as the first time I was old enough to notice. I imagine there must have been a time when 'literary sf fans' were trying to do this as well, not realizing that everyone else was already familiar with Star Trek and Star Wars.
