cimorene: Blue willow branches on a peach ground (rococo)

I was JUST saying in the comments to [personal profile] krait that I didn't expect to start collecting a bunch of orchids because of the costs, only to get home today and have Wax say "Did you see the grocery store orchid I rescued?" I guess she caught the enthusiasm.

Say hello to Lilla Gubben. Naming it after Pippi Longstocking's horse seemed obvious, and if there are going to be two we can't just say "the orchid" anymore.

Lilla Gubben is the larger size of phalaenopsis. The chartreuse and red one from yesterday (now named Roy Lichtenstein) is a miniature. Lilla Gubben had lost a few more roots to root rot than Roy, but it too seems healthy and happy. Wax tells me she "felt bad for them" and "wanted to save all of them", but we have agreed to give it a rest for a while before we try rehabilitation of any sick and pathetic orchids. Not least because even here near the bottom of the phalaenopsis price spectrum they still cost twenty bucks each.
