the religious faith of your upbringing. We, the member congregations of the Unitarian Universalist Association, covenant to affirm and promote
The inherent worth and dignity of every person;
Justice, equity and compassion in human relations;
Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;
A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;
The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large;
The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all;
Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part. we lived in alabama and random acquaintances were in danger of making me say innocently that i was baptist. and for some reason i thought it would be fun to go to church. this was the only option. my dad is agnostic and not atheist (as am i) because there's no more evidence for the non-existence of god than there is for the existence thereof, and my mom doesn't think about it a lot and really is pissed in general at christianity. (i think she's pagan, vaguely.)

favorite religious ritual (participating or watching)? channukah. we aren't jewish (though my dad is racially) and celebrate in honor of my grandmother. we sing a little rhyme together, very simple, when we light the candles. it's moving.
