the physical plant guys were here today making noise in the hallway, and the result is the light fixture lying on the floor in the hall, exposed wires in the ceiling, and the lights, needless to say, off. there's another fixture in the room, but they've taped over the switch, which controls both, and the room's pitch black. i put my nightlight in there, and followed my parents' suggestion of thumb-tacking a string to the ceiling near the water source to direct the drips down into the receptacle set up for them. by 'string' i mean 'piece of navy blue coat thread' (anyone got any dark-colored buttons they want sewn on? i've only got six more pages over here to write).

at this time last night i was making icons. the only possible explanation for this is 'brain damage,' but i prefer to discard that one as well and say it's impossible and must not have happened. because my feet are cold, i believe i'll put on my slippers now.
