so i had several dreams which i'm not really clear about anymore. were they connected? was i the protagonist or the narrator? allow me to just hit the high points. what with me and wax and
mace_m, there is probably something in the water.
1. the us reinstated... or, well, INstated... a draft for both genders. i was with my parents and a childhood friend, anna, and her parents, and we got injected with something or other under the guise of a health exam by the army dudes, and then they were like, 'and now, young people, welcome to the u.s. army.' needless to say, i was very pissed. it then turned out to have been a joke. and then i was even madder. 'but at least you're not in the army,' daddy said, and i growled, 'IT'S NOT. FUNNY.' and i think i kicked a random small child.
2. we were in a department store/antique shop, possibly living there. met foreign, semitic couple--newlyweds--in victorian clothing. the girl was wearing a maroon velvet riding habit and a little hat. black hair. gorgeous. ahem. so everyone was wondering about their costumes and meanwhile i was the only one who realized they were from the past, and were actually our ancestors. i ran about and fetched them an antique map (marked just 'the western territories') and also a modern one with highways and such and, more importantly, physical geography. gave them advice. they left.
3. a landlady sent her child, a little blond girl with ringlets, aged 7 or so, into an antique shop she owned and the girl flew around under the ceiling setting fire to everything.
4. i was with some people running away from something and had climbed up behind a waterfall, and there was a cliff on one side, and all these slabs of rock which were awfully dangerous looking. a white eagle was flying around. and we had to get down, er, in this... sandstoney crevice? but there were people who wanted to kill us. i'm not sure why. they were hunting us or something. maybe we were... native americans. we did seem to be all one family.
5. and then it was my REAL extended family on my mom's side, and we were in the... desert? and we found this tent city which we had set up, and as soon as i saw it i started remembering having set it up in a deja vu ish manner, and we were looking for provisions to run away before a... bad thing came. (tornado? pillaging army? unimportant details.) there was a tent full of winter clothes and another entire tent full of costumes, and i was running about looking for SUMMER clothes as it was very hot and my aunt tina stopped me and was like, 'calm down there, sweetie!' and they turned out to be on a table. also there was a tent full of books, and i was in there trying desperately to pick out books for the run when we ran out of time. new plan! uncle jack dashed into the tent with his children in tow, the rest of the cousins soon to come, and started setting up a hiding place for us, er, in front of the bookcase. with pillows and rolls of foam and such, and then some mattresses and bookcases were going to go in front of us. bizarrely, he decided to embark on an engineering lesson for me. 'if your cousin bailey sat right there then would that work? or would you need something else to support this over your head?' 'oh, er. if she sat on top of... uh... THIS... then she wouldn't slide towards me... but will we be able to breathe?' 'yeah, okay, honey, that's fine.'
