12 Feb 2003 12:17 pmthe free science fiction and fantasy library at baen (publishers of lois mcmaster bujold's vorkosigan, david weber's honor harrington, and elizabeth moon's everything, among others). you can read them totally online or download them in several formats including to pdfs.
lois mcmaster bujold, i need hardly say, is one of my favorite writers. her first award-winning novella, the mountains of mourning, is available for download here.
david weber is also very popular, although i'm not particularly fond of him. the writing's a little too juvenile and mercedes lackey-ish. however, if he wrote slash i'd rec it, and i've recc'd some people who remind me strongly of him or of lackey or both, so i thought i'd include the link. besides which, i did enjoy the first two honor harrington novels (both of which are available here). after that, i got disgusted and stopped, although the rest of them are lying around our house somewhere or other.
oh, and you can get a an eBook emulator for PC free from mobipocket here. i'm not sure, exactly, what the supposed advantage of reading as an ebook rather than an html file is, but perhaps some of you know.
