if i became more absent-minded in my mother's fashion, everything would be simpler in some ways. or actually it would be more complicated, possibly, but i wouldn't notice, so it wouldn't matter.

she told us last night that if she was 'a crazy old lady' she'd rather die on the floor of her house than in a mental institution. umm, thanks, mom. we'll keep that in mind.
