838 signatures on the petition to send the statue of liberty back to france! people on [livejournal.com profile] sos_usa are convinced this is the end of the world as we know it. i dunno, i'm in need of some comic relief.

we went to a little private business, a cabinetry store, in birmingham today on the off-chance they'd have ones they don't have in tuscaloosa. was this fruitful? i could have told you not in advance and i frankly don't have a lot of patience for her finickiness about the cabinets, but that's a side-issue. she took the dude's business card and the christian fish in the upper right corner was as large as the logo in the upper left. mom didn't even notice.

played 'lords of the rhymes' in the car. mom and dad were both impressed. bilbo! bilbo!

and then i watched 'the naked time' and 'amok time' because it was tos 'time' episodes night, and OMG THEY ARE SO. IN. LOVE. my enthusiasm is ecstatic. everyone should go watch 'amok time' right now. shatner/nimoy is practically inescapable. i'll buy that the tension between them is adversarial, possibly, or was, initially, or that the intimacy was friendship, but dude, that doesn't preclude a sexual element. i don't care how heterosexual shatner thinks he is. tension is inherently exciting, and boy, just look at one of them standing over the other in any shot (and thankfully there are a lot of them): the screen vibrates. ::sigh::

You've officially made me fall off of my chair just by talking about that petition.

I give up on the US. I really do. :P

There's a petition to send the Statue of Liberty back to France?

The mind boggles. What's next, renaming all places with names of French origin?

This is starting to seriously look like some sort of bizarre SNL skit. Sheesh.

We had a rally for pro war stuff today on campus. They were yelling "honk if you love america." Not that i don't like america or anything, its just that these are the same people that give me a hard time living a normal life just because of my name. So i didn't honk. Silent protest? nah, just don't give a damn.

not giving a damn must be getting increasingly difficult. okay, well, i don't give enough of one to go to a protest. it's not like he cares. he wasn't even elected.
