and on the subject of the title: the cliques, the amount of shit to keep up with, the... cliques... they're way too easy to go sour on. i'm more of an armchair observer.
for the record, you need a lot better evidence than wild speculation based on totally unsubstantiated rumor to launch a campaign against an actor the likes of the one being stirred up against sean astin. he won't care, presumably, if he's demonized right the hell out of slash fiction, but i'm sure the rumors, if untrue, would hurt him should he ever find out (in this fandom, unfortunately, that seems more likely than it might in some others). even saying rationally that there's not a high enough probability to fear that eventuality, the whole spirit of harmful actions based on unfounded accusations, and of representing rumor as fact--i find highly disturbing.
