You know, this is a great idea and I agree. I remember in one of the Star Trek movies in the 80's, they had this *great* UST going on. The one with the whale, maybe?

no, you're thinking of the final frontier, shatner's crack-brained attempt at it. it makes so little sense that i have no recourse but to consider it canon only as a set of fever dreams jim has while sick after stiv. (this idea was actually ellen_fremedon's, and is a fabulous story she's written somewhere.)

but anyway, yes, scotty and uhura have ust in the series too in episodes such as 'mirror, mirror' and 'the changeling.' <3<3<3

travesty: there is, as far as i can tell, only ONE sc/u story online. ONE. and it's not even all sc/u! it has su/ch and k/s in it too!

sulu/chekov is not very uncommon. i don't have much of it on my recs page because i haven't read it a lot and i haven't found much of it to be really outstanding. but at any rate, i've actually written one (rather silly, as it was a result of a harry potter 'candy statues' challenge).

and there's only one sc/u online that i know of. eventually i'll write some, i imagine. it is my sekrit het otp. (also, my ONLY het otp.)
