is it totally fanon that yoda trained qui-gon? because in aotc didn't dooku say that yoda trained HIM and he (dooku) trained qui-gon?

this has actually been cause for much debate in the sw fandom. i think the general consensus is that yoda trains all the really young padawans (as seen in aotc), and then when they get older they have to apply for a master, blah blah blah. thus explaining why obi-wan calls yoda his former master, when we know he was also trained by qui-gon. etc. etc. ad infinitum. basically, everyone is yoda's bitch.

Also, there's the bit in TPM where Qui-Gon addresses Yoda as 'my master', rather than just 'master'. Of such things are fanon made. :shrug:
