I'm about halfway through my Season 6 DVD set. You know how, sometimes, after awhile, you start to take your favorite things for granted? Like, I always list "Once In A Lifetime" as one of my favorite songs. But then every once in awhile I put it on and remember all over again why it's so fucking amazing.

That's exactly the experience I'm having with nextgen right now. It's such fun! Especially since I'm watching them with my boyfriend--he's new to the whole Star Trek thing, so I get to explain all the little nuances to him as we go. Such fun!

well, i'm conflicted on next gen. it's very good and i have a lingering childhood fondness for it, but i believe the original series to be head and shoulders above it. it has some very good points along with some amusing bad ones.

It is pretty bad, isn't it? The original borg costumes...the cliffhanger at the end of "Best of Both Worlds"...Troy's horrible lavender body-suit thing...

But Patrick Stewart is a class act, and LeVar Burton and Brent Spiner are great. Jonathan Frakes is so bad that I can enjoy him as camp.

Really, I think it's just that I loved the show so much as a kid...

yeah... hee, but you have to give marina sirtis some points. she had HORRIBLE dialogue to work with. i think spiner and stewart really carried the show, though. (that's why slashing them is SO RIGHT.)
